A Taste of Blues & BBQ Celebration at West Baton Rouge Museum’s March Historical Happy Hour Featuring Chris Thomas King with Blues After School’s Juke Joint Juniors Band
The West Baton Rouge Museum hosts Chris Thomas King for Historical Happy Hour on Friday, March 15th, 2024 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. This month’s Happy Hour brings “A Taste of Blues & BBQ” in celebration of the fifth year of the museum’s youth music enrichment series, Blues After School. Join us as we serve up live Blues music and a side sampling of BBQ from the westside while supplies last. Donations will be accepted to support Blues After School.
The evening will open with a set performed by the Juke Joint Juniors, the West Baton Rouge Museum’s Blues After School band, demonstrating the value of mentorship from professionals in the music industry. Thanks to a grant received by King’s foundation, The Blues Origin Institute from the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, he is currently mentoring these students.

He will also discuss his groundbreaking book The Blues: The Authentic Narrative of My Music and Culture. The performance will take place at the Jazz Museum. King will do an autograph book session following his performance.
